Biography
Mehmet Aslan (1 May 1931, İzmir - 1 September 1987, Heybeliada ) is a Turkish actor , screenwriter and film director. Having completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Izmir, Aslan studied for a while in the electrical department of Yıldız Technical University, then left the university and started working as an electrical technician. In 1949, he became acquainted with cinema by working as an assistant and actor in the film Captain Tahsin, directed by Orhon Murat Arıburnu and in which he played the leading role. Continuing his career as an actor and assistant director, Aslan wrote his first script, "Ateş Gibi Kadın" (Woman Like Fire), in 1965. He began directing the film Bir Gönül Oyunu (A Heart Game) in the same year. He is known as the director of the Tarkan series of films. On the posters of films directed or written by Mehmet Aslan, his surname is sometimes written as Arslan.
